Nikon D300

---------------------------
Feb 21st:

Oh wow! I wasn't expecting a Daily Deviation from this! I'm glad everyone enjoys this piece. To answer a few questions, this is shot about an hour after sunset (I guess my title is a little misleading, sorry!), hence the residual glow in the distance from the sunset. The 90 second exposure captured the light that i could not see with my naked eyes, and my main goal was to get a decent exposure of the stars, although there was a near full moon that night. The near full moon is what is casting the shadows on the Saguaro cacti. The hint of red you see on the cacti and in the foreground is from me pumping my brake lights of my car during the exposure. This helped add a little bit of a gel effect, minus the gels. The image came out kinda dark but the main changes I made was to just brighten exposure and sharpen the image. The colors were actually pretty well maintained from the exposure. This is one of those things where you take the photo and hope it turns out ok, but you never know til you get home and see it on the monitor. I guess this time it worked out. :)

Daily Deviation

Sometime Around Midnight by ~danheacock Suggester writes: The biting clarity and haunting nature of this photograph is breathtaking. It's also nice to see something a bit different than the thousands of sunsets or snowscapes that are usually featured. (Suggested by *MoscaDeMantequilla and Featured by ^kkart)

Cool, long exposure at night! Really surreal to see the landscape bright as daylight under a starry sky :]

Still got wind in the tank
Showing me direction
I am still flying
Still got calm in my mind
Giving me protection
And I won't stop running
